In a major operation, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has dismantled a notorious inter-state racket engaged in the forging of Aadhaar cards for foreign nationals, including Rohingyas and Bangladeshis. A senior officer confirmed the arrest of eight members involved in the scheme.
The Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order and STF) Amitabh Yash stated that the gang employed both electronic and manual techniques to fabricate documents, operating across at least nine states. The crackdown involved extensive surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Yash revealed that the gang was traced to various locations spanning Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Uttarakhand. The operation represents a significant step in combating document forgery and mitigating potential security threats.
