In a bold move to enhance cybersecurity, the Jammu and Kashmir government has banned the use of pen drives on official devices in all administrative departments, according to a recent announcement.
Public messaging platforms like WhatsApp and unsecured services such as iLovePDF are also prohibited for handling official materials, ensuring data sovereignty and minimizing security vulnerabilities.
The restrictions, ordered by Commissioner Secretary M Raju, include provisions for controlled whitelisting of pen drives in exceptional cases and promote the adoption of GovDrive, a cloud-based secure platform.
