Karnataka High Court Reviews Bank Account Statements Plea by Vijay Mallya and Daljit Mahal

The Karnataka High Court has scheduled a hearing in September for the petitions lodged by fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya and Daljit Mahal. They are seeking bank account statements for debt recoveries related to United Breweries Holdings Limited (UBHL), now liquidated.

The petitioners call for a detailed account from banks, outlining principal dues, interest accruals, and credits for already recovered amounts. They argue that despite winding-up orders finalizing against Kingfisher Airlines and UBHL, excess recoveries have been made.

Citing figures exceeding the directed Rs 6,200 crore, the petitioners state Rs 10,200 crore has been recovered, with the Finance Minister confirming recoveries at Rs 14,000 crore in Parliament. They request interim relief with a stay on further asset sales in current recovery proceedings.
