Drone Dispute Escalates: Mali vs. Algeria at the International Court of Justice

Mali's transitional authorities have lodged a case against Algeria at the International Court of Justice, alleging aggression due to the shooting down of a Malian military drone.

The alleged incident occurred during the night of March 31 to April 1 near the border region of Tinzaouaten in Mali's Kidal area. Mali asserts that Algeria's actions were deliberate, aiming to impede its military operations against armed groups.

Mali has labeled the act as hostile and a breach of non-aggression principles, further criticizing Algeria for not providing evidence that the drone trespassed Algerian airspace. Algeria defends that its forces acted against an armed surveillance drone that entered its airspace.
