The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has announced the launch of the 7th edition of the Prime Minister’s Mementos E-Auction, to be conducted by the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi. The announcement was made on September 16, 2025, by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, at NGMA.

Over 1,300 Unique Gifts Up for Auction

Starting September 17, 2025, and running until October 2, 2025, the e-auction will feature over 1,300 mementos received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from across India and the world. Citizens can participate and place their bids through the official portal: www.pmmementos.gov.in.

The items to be auctioned reflect the cultural richness and diversity of India. They include:

  • Paintings, artefacts, and handicrafts showcasing traditional and tribal art.

  • Sculptures and idols of deities, including a striking metallic Nataraja statue.

  • Heritage textiles, such as an intricately embroidered Pashmina shawl from Jammu & Kashmir and a handwoven Naga shawl.

  • Rogan Art from Gujarat, depicting the iconic “Tree of Life.”

  • A Tanjore painting of Ram Durbar, representing South India’s sacred art traditions.

Sports Memorabilia: Honouring Para-Athletes

A special highlight of this edition is the sports memorabilia gifted by Indian para-athletes who represented the nation at the Paris Paralympics 2024. These mementos are seen as symbols of resilience, determination, and the indomitable spirit of Indian sportspersons, adding a contemporary and inspirational dimension to the auction.

A Tradition Since 2019

The first Prime Minister’s Mementos E-Auction was held in January 2019. Since then, thousands of unique gifts presented to PM Modi have been auctioned, collectively raising over ₹50 crore.

What makes the initiative remarkable is that Prime Minister Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to dedicate all the gifts he receives for a public cause. All proceeds are directed to the Namami Gange Project, the Government of India’s flagship programme for the rejuvenation, conservation, and protection of the Ganga River and its ecosystem.

Viewing and Bidding Opportunities

The mementos for this edition are currently on display at NGMA, New Delhi, allowing visitors to appreciate their craftsmanship and cultural significance before placing bids online. This hybrid model of physical viewing and digital participation has widened citizen engagement across the country.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat remarked that the auction is not only a chance to own a piece of history but also a means to contribute to a noble environmental cause. “Every bid is a step towards preserving the sacred Ganga,” he said.

Blending Heritage with a Noble Mission

Over the years, the auction has emerged as a unique blend of art, heritage, sports, and social responsibility. While citizens gain the opportunity to acquire treasured items associated with the Prime Minister, their contributions directly support one of India’s most ambitious and meaningful ecological initiatives.

As Special Campaign 5.0 on cleanliness and governance reform is being rolled out nationwide, the auction reinforces the government’s holistic approach of combining cultural preservation with environmental rejuvenation.

The 7th Prime Minister’s Mementos E-Auction is more than just a marketplace—it is a national movement where citizens participate in the preservation of heritage while contributing to the sacred task of reviving the Ganga.
