The Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, has accused the BJP-led state government of failing to establish a sense of security for women. Expressing his shock over the recent gangrape near Baliharchandi temple in Puri district, Patnaik criticized the administration for its lack of effective response.
Citing multiple incidents of violence against women, including attacks on students in Gopalpur, Balasore, and Balanga, Patnaik lamented that victims are still awaiting justice. He emphasized that these crimes tarnish Odisha's image, urging the state government to take robust action to restore safety and confidence among women.
The Biju Mahila Janata Dal announced plans to stage demonstrations in front of SP offices statewide, demanding enhanced security measures.
