The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended a senior official of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, on charges of bribery. The arrest of Vijay Dubey, the Deputy General Manager at NTPC's Raikera-Gharghoda office, occurred as he accepted a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh, according to officials.

Dubey allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh from the complainant to release the remaining compensation of Rs 16 lakh for land acquisition in Tilaipali village. The power generation company's project necessitated the acquisition, with a total compensation of Rs 30 lakh promised to the complainant, of which only Rs 14 lakh had been paid previously.

The ACB's operation caught Dubey red-handed as he took the bribe near a fuel station, following a Rs 50,000 instalment he had already received. Dubey has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
