Nigerian troops have made significant progress in their fight against insurgency by killing at least 11 militants from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in two separate engagements in the northeast. This operation is part of a sustained effort to dismantle insurgent networks in the volatile region.
The military reported that the first clash occurred on September 15, along the strategic Baga–Cross Kauwa road in Borno State, where troops were ambushed by ISWAP fighters using improvised explosive devices and firearms. The soldiers successfully repelled the attack, eliminating eight fighters, including two senior commanders, and seizing weapons and logistics.
In another operation in Adamawa State, troops, with the support of local vigilantes and hunters, subdued three additional fighters and captured weapons and communication tools. No casualties were reported among Nigerian forces in both operations, highlighting the military's ongoing campaign to reduce insurgent activity and bring stability to the affected communities.
