In response to the continued heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced measures prioritizing citizen safety. The government is relocating residents from unsafe buildings to ensure their protection.

Under the Special Relief Package, financial assistance is provided to those rendered homeless, with Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 as rent for urban and rural areas respectively. The relentless rains have caused significant damage, claiming 417 lives to date and resulting in a loss of Rs 4,582 crore.

Officials are focusing on restoring infrastructure, especially road connectivity in apple-growing areas, to prevent further economic losses. Efforts are also being made to reinstate essential services swiftly, as the state grapples with 136% above-average rainfall this month.
