The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, successfully organised a spirited bike rally on 17th September 2025, as part of the build-up to the Ayurveda Day 2025 celebrations. This year’s observance carries the theme “Ayurveda for People & Planet”, reflecting Ayurveda’s dual commitment to holistic human health and environmental sustainability.

Rally Highlights and Participation

The rally was ceremonially flagged off from the AIIA Campus by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kumar Prajapati, Director, AIIA. The event was also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajgopala, former Director (I/C), alongside heads of departments, faculty members, postgraduate scholars, Ph.D. researchers, and staff of the Institute.

Participants rode with flags emblazoned with the Ayurveda Day logo and the official theme, traveling from the AIIA campus to the Ministry of Ayush headquarters. The rally served as a symbolic gesture of commitment towards preventive healthcare, ecological balance, and community well-being.

Ayurveda’s Philosophy of Balance

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Prajapati remarked:

“The rally reflects Ayurveda’s timeless message of balance—not only for personal health but also for harmony with the environment. Through such initiatives, we aim to inspire youth and citizens to embrace Ayurveda as a way of life.”

His words emphasized the integrated philosophy of Ayurveda, which treats health not merely as the absence of disease but as a dynamic equilibrium between body, mind, spirit, and the natural environment.

Significance of Ayurveda Day 2025

The bike rally served as a precursor to Ayurveda Day, which will be observed nationwide on 23rd September 2025. The Government of India recently designated this date to standardize global observances, ensuring greater recognition and international participation.

The choice of date is symbolic—it coincides with the autumnal equinox, a natural event that represents balance in day and night, perfectly aligning with Ayurveda’s core principle of harmony in life and nature.

Broader Outreach and Integration Efforts

The Ministry of Ayush, in collaboration with AIIA, has been actively promoting Ayurveda through outreach activities, public awareness drives, research collaborations, and educational initiatives. These efforts aim to:

  • Encourage the adoption of Ayurveda for preventive and curative healthcare.

  • Integrate Ayurvedic practices into mainstream healthcare systems.

  • Highlight the role of Ayurveda in promoting sustainable lifestyles, such as eco-friendly dietary habits, herbal remedies, and natural resource conservation.

The Ministry is also working to expand Ayurveda’s reach globally, making it a cornerstone of India’s soft power diplomacy in health and wellness.

The AIIA’s bike rally was not only a celebration of Ayurveda Day but also a public awareness campaign, bringing attention to how ancient wisdom can address modern health challenges and environmental concerns. By connecting health with ecology, the rally sent a strong message that the well-being of people and the planet are deeply interconnected.

With the nationwide observance of Ayurveda Day on September 23, India reaffirms its commitment to positioning Ayurveda as a guiding force for healthier citizens, sustainable development, and global wellness leadership.
