The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been tasked with identifying designated feeding spots for stray dogs across all zones, in line with a Supreme Court directive from August 2023. This initiative aims to regulate feeding practices and avoid public area disruptions.

In a communication released Wednesday, MCD instructed officials to work alongside area councillors and Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs) to mark feeding points in each municipal ward. These locations will be recorded and reported to the commissioner's office for a submission to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court's directive seeks to alleviate conflicts between dog feeders and local residents while upholding public health and animal welfare. By creating these designated spots, the tensions surrounding stray dog feeding are expected to diminish, promoting a balanced approach to the issue.
