Tragic Trends: Series of Suicides by River in Shahjahanpur
In Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a 55-year-old woman named Meena Dixit allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Garra river. A tragic series of suicides has unfolded in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur, with a woman named Meena Dixit, 55, reportedly jumping into the Garra river on Thursday, marking the seventh such incident within 15 days.
Additional Superintendent of Police Devendra Kumar disclosed that Dixit, a South City Colony resident, was last seen at the riverbank, having left her slippers behind, before disappearing beneath the water. Local divers, alongside NDRF and police teams, are currently conducting search operations.
Police records reveal that seven individuals, including teenagers and the elderly, have died in similar circumstances recently. Authorities are now stationed on local bridges to prevent further tragedies.
