In a significant legal development, the Supreme Court has overturned the anticipatory bail granted to former IAS officers Anil Tuteja and Alok Shukla, who are embroiled in the controversial Nagrik Apurti Nigam (NAN) scam in Chhattisgarh.
The court's decision, guided by Justices M M Sundresh and Satish Chandra Sharma, allows the Enforcement Directorate (ED) four weeks to take custody of the officers. This period is crucial for facilitating detailed investigations into the financial misconduct allegations related to the public distribution system (PDS) scam.
The allegations claim that constitutional figures in Chhattisgarh sought undue judicial relief for those accused in the multi-crore money laundering case. The ED is also pursuing the transfer of the case outside Chhattisgarh and the cancellation of bail for other high-profile individuals involved.
