In a heated political climate, Maharashtra's state minister and OBC leader Chhagan Bhujbal has called for the modification or withdrawal of the Maratha quota Government Resolution (GR) linked to the Hyderabad Gazette. The controversy stems from an agitation led by activist Manoj Jarange, aiming for Kunbi caste certificates for Marathas.
At a gathering in Reshimbagh, Bhujbal criticized the NCP (SP) for allegedly instigating an attack on police personnel two years ago in Jalna's Antarwali Sarati, the epicenter of Jarange's quota agitation. Bhujbal highlighted inconsistencies in the composition of sub-committees for Maratha and OBC reservation discussions.
Praising Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their roles in advocating for OBCs and the national caste census, Bhujbal stressed the importance of addressing fake caste certificates. The political saga underscores the complex dynamics surrounding caste-based quotas in Maharashtra's social fabric.
