On Friday, police officially registered a case against two individuals implicated in cyber-attacks aimed at CPI(M) leader K J Shine and Vypin MLA K N Unnikrishnan. The Ernakulam Rural Cyber Police have identified C K Gopalakrishnan and K M Shajahan as the accused, based on a complaint from Shine.
According to officials, Gopalakrishnan reportedly posted defamatory remarks against the politicians on Facebook, while Shajahan allegedly shared disrespectful comments about them via his YouTube channel, Prathipaksham. The First Information Report reveals that sexually explicit images and messages were disseminated across various platforms from September 14 to 18.
The two face serious charges under several laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. Shine has claimed that the Congress party is orchestrating these attacks, with Gopalakrishnan identified as a Congress activist involved in the party's social media efforts. The investigation may extend to additional suspects as it unfolds.
