In a significant development, France reported the detention of a suspect involved in the 1982 attack on a Jewish restaurant in Paris, which resulted in six deaths and injuries to at least 20 others.
The suspect, apprehended by Palestinian authorities in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, was located following France's recent diplomatic recognition of Palestine, an act that facilitated the extradition request.
This arrest revives hopes for justice in the case connected to a historic wave of militant violence from the 1970s. France and several other countries are poised to recognize the Palestinian state, coinciding with the U.N. General Assembly session.
