A family dispute turned tragic when a 41-year-old man allegedly stabbed his nephew to death and injured his elder brother after a confrontation in outer north Delhi, police reported on Friday.

The incident unfolded on the night of September 14 in Guru Nanak Dev Colony when Jitender, reportedly living with his elderly mother, engaged in a volatile quarrel with his nephew, Akash Giri, alias Rohan, and his elder brother, Abhilash, alias Rohit. The altercation resulted in Rohan being declared dead at BJRM Hospital, whereas Rohit survived with serious injuries, according to DCP (Outer north) Hareshwar Swami.

Investigations revealed a history of disputes between Jitender and his sister's family, with prior incidents of physical assault. Tensions rose after Rohit had to relocate to a nearby rented space due to family conflicts. On the evening of the attack, Jitender clashed with his brother-in-law Hari Giri, prompting the brothers to intervene. They were subsequently attacked with a knife by Jitender, who then fled. However, police managed to apprehend him through CCTV surveillance and recovered the weapon.
