Supreme Court Seeks Response on Activists' Bail in 2020 Delhi Riots Case
The Supreme Court has asked Delhi Police to respond to bail pleas from activists involved in the 2020 Delhi riots case under UAPA charges. Activists, including Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, have been denied bail by the Delhi High Court, which ruled out 'conspiratorial' violence in peaceful protests.

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Delhi Police to provide a response regarding the bail pleas of activists involved in the 2020 Delhi riots case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
A bench comprising Justices Aravind Kumar and N V Anjaria has issued notice over petitions filed by Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Gulfisha Fatima, and others, scheduling a further hearing for October 27.
The activists, presenting their case from prison where they have remained for over five years, insist the actions were part of peaceful protests against controversial legislation like the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
