On Tuesday, the Norwegian government reported that Russian aircraft have violated Norwegian airspace on three occasions in 2025. The incursions, each lasting between one and four minutes, have been the first since over a decade, raising concerns in Norway about potential intentions behind the acts.

The government statement highlighted that two of the incidents transpired over the Arctic Barents Sea on April 25 and August 18, while the third occurrence happened on July 24 in Finnmark, Norway's northernmost county bordering Russia. The precise reasons behind these violations remain unclear.

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere stated, "We can't determine whether this was done deliberately or due to navigation errors. Regardless, this is not acceptable, and we have communicated our stance to Russian authorities accordingly."
