Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde on Thursday threw her weight behind the reservation for Marathas, while clearly opposing any cut into the 'plates' of Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Speaking at a rally during Dussehra in Beed district, she stressed that the OBC community is already facing scarcity.

The decision came after a government resolution was passed to implement the Hyderabad gazetteer, allowing eligible Marathas to claim Kunbi caste certificates. However, the move has stirred unrest among the OBCs, who feel sidelined. Munde, a prominent OBC leader, declared her unwavering support for equitable reservation policies.

Echoing sentiments against casteism, Munde called for unity beyond caste lines, especially in times of adversity like the recent floods affecting Maharashtra. Her cousin, NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, also emphasized fairness, asserting that extending support to Marathas should not undermine OBC entitlements.
