Putin's Warning: Russia's Swift Response to Europe's Militarisation

In a forceful statement on Thursday, President Vladimir Putin emphasized Russia's readiness to respond rapidly to any European provocation, amid what he termed as an escalating militarisation driven by hysteria on the continent. However, Putin was clear in his claims that Russia harbors no intentions of striking the U.S.-led NATO alliance.

Addressing the Valdai Discussion Group in Sochi, Putin challenged Europe, suggesting they feel free to attempt competition in the military realm, but warned of Russia's prompt countermeasures. Highlighting historical responsiveness, he specifically referred to Germany's military ambitions in Europe.

Criticizing the fear-mongering by European elites, Putin dismissed the notion of Russia attacking a NATO member as unthinkable. He reassured that war fears are overblown and advised calmness, urging Europeans to focus on their domestic issues rather than external threats.
