The stringent National Security Act has been enacted against eight individuals in Bahraich district, following last year's communal violence during a Durga idol immersion. Bahraich District Magistrate Akshay Tripathi issued the order on September 30, reaffirming a commitment to maintain public safety and order.
A statement by Superintendent of Police Ram Nayan Singh detailed the October 2024 riot, which claimed the life of 22-year-old Ramgopal Mishra and caused extensive damage. The incident began over a dispute regarding DJ music during the immersion procession.
The eight accused include Maroof Ali, Nankau, and others. They have been jailed since the clashes last year, with actions against them aimed at upholding law, peace, and public safety. The upcoming processions have heightened security to prevent repeat disturbances.
