In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, a violent clash erupted between Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants and members of a peace committee, resulting in two fatalities, according to local police reports on Sunday. Tragically, the clash claimed the lives of a peace committee member and a passing pedestrian.
The incident unfolded on Saturday within the Gul Imam Police Station jurisdiction in the Tank district, adjacent to the Afghanistan border. In a simultaneous operation, security personnel were ambushed in the Bakakhel area of Bannu district as they traveled from Mir Ali tehsil to Bannu. Injuries were reported, and the suspects managed to escape.
On the same day, police thwarted another attack on their vehicle, forcing the assailants to retreat after a firefight. Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off affected areas and initiated intensive searches to apprehend the escaped militants.
