A dramatic scene unfolded in the Supreme Court on Monday when a lawyer made an attempt to hurl a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai. The incident transpired while the CJI was presiding over case proceedings.
The lawyer, after approaching the dais, removed his shoe and aimed it towards the judge, prompting security personnel to swiftly intervene and restrain him. As he was being escorted out, the lawyer protested loudly against what he termed an 'insult to Sanatan Dharma'.
In spite of the disruption, the Chief Justice remained calm and encouraged the lawyers to proceed with their arguments uninterrupted, emphasizing that such incidents would not sway the court. An investigation by the court's security team is currently underway to ascertain further details.
