Lennart Monterlos, a French-German national and cyclist, has been acquitted of espionage charges in Iran. The chief justice of Hormozgan province announced the verdict, as reported by Tasnim news agency.
Monterlos was detained in June during a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.
Though he has been acquitted, the prosecutor retains the right to contest this decision in the courts, potentially altering the outcome.
