A tragic incident unfolded at the international border with Bangladesh in West Bengal, where a 59-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) inspector died while countering a cattle smuggling operation.

The mishap occurred at midnight on October 4 near the Agra border outpost in Malda district. Authorities report that BSF inspector Kapil Deo Singh, leading the operation, succumbed during the confrontation.

Despite firing non-lethal rounds to deter the smugglers, Singh was attacked and fell unconscious in treacherous terrain, later dying at a hospital. A Court of Inquiry will investigate, as non-lethal policies are scrutinized.
