Four Indian nationals tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Matera, southern Italy, the Indian Embassy in Rome has confirmed.
The victims were traveling in a seven-seater Renault Scenic, which collided with a truck in Scanzano Jonico, part of the Agri Valley, on Saturday. Italian news agency ANSA reported on the incident on Sunday.
Identified as Kumar Manoj, 34, Singh Surjit, 33, Singh Harwinder, 31, and Singh Jaskaran, 20, the embassy has expressed its deep condolences. Five individuals were transported to Policoro Hospital, with the most serious case sent to Potenza's San Carlo Hospital. The truck's driver was unharmed. An investigation by the Matera Public Prosecutor's Office is underway.
