In a distinguished ceremony at the Raj Bhavan's Darbar Hall, Justice Soumen Sen was formally sworn in as Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court. The oath was administered by Governor CH Vijayashankar on Wednesday.

Justice Sen takes over from Justice Sanjib Banerjee, who retired earlier in September. The event drew attendance from notable figures including Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Leader of the Opposition Mukul Sangma, and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, among others.

Chief Minister Sangma expressed high hopes for Justice Sen's leadership, highlighting his extensive legal experience and commitment to fairness. Justice Sen's appointment, officially ratified by the President of India on September 26, came with the Supreme Court Collegium's recommendation.
