The Supreme Court on Wednesday annulled a long-standing rape case against Tamil film director and politician Seeman, dating back to 2011. This decision came after both Seeman and the complainant, an actor, consented to end the legal dispute.

A bench led by Justices B V Nagarathna and R Mahadevan highlighted that the actor had withdrawn her accusations against Seeman. In response, Seeman filed an affidavit apologizing unconditionally, retracting his claims, and committed not to contact the actor.

The court stated, "We find that the interest of justice would be served if the impugned order is set aside." Consequently, all complaints and FIR filed by the actor against Seeman were nullified. This resolution followed Seeman's challenge to a Madras High Court order and the Supreme Court's suggestion for mutual apologies.
