Baltic Contingency Plans: Preparing for Russian Aggression
In response to heightened Russian military activity, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are crafting contingency plans for potential evacuation scenarios. Amid escalating concerns over Russia's military maneuvers since the 2022 Ukraine invasion, the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are formulating contingency strategies to address a possible exodus due to Russian aggression.
The three countries, historically wary of Russian actions post-World War Two annexation, have voiced threats concerning cyber attacks, disinformation, and military incursions to NATO allies. Consequently, they've significantly increased defense funding.
