The Palghar police have taken action against a brick kiln owner and his son following allegations of assaulting a tribal worker and coercing his minor daughter to labor at their facility in Thane district, as reported by officials on Monday.
The victim, who hails from Palghar, was employed without a formal bond at the kiln from November 2024 to May 2025, with a payment of Rs 45,000. Accusations arose of improper work, leading allegedly to physical abuse and the illegal employment of the victim's 13-year-old daughter, according to police sources.
Tribal welfare activists brought the issue to light during a visit, prompting police to register a case against the kiln operators from Padgha, Thane, under strict labor and discrimination laws. The case has since been transferred to the Padgha police station.
