In a distressing turn of events, families affected by the Karur stampede incident on September 27 have voiced concerns over being misled into filing Supreme Court petitions calling for a CBI investigation into the tragedy that left 41 dead. These families claim their intent was solely to secure compensation and employment due to their losses.
Sharmila, who lost her 9-year-old son in the stampede at a political rally, revealed she was unaware of a CBI inquiry request linked to her petition. Similarly, P Selvaraj, a daily wage earner, mistakenly believed he was signing for compensatory relief after his wife died in the stampede.
Voipadi Kumar, from the DMK IT wing, labeled these developments as a conspiracy against the ruling party. Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Digital Journalists Union has called for an investigation into the alleged fraudulent handling of legal petitions, stressing the need for procedural fairness and judicial scrutiny.
