In the wake of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar's tragic suicide, Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda has called for an impartial investigation, emphasizing the government's duty to restore public confidence in the justice system. Hooda made the remarks after meeting with Kumar's widow, Amneet P Kumar, in Chandigarh.

Kumar, a 2001-batch officer, allegedly ended his life on October 7, leaving behind a note that accused eight senior officers of harassment, including Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur and former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya. In response, the Chandigarh Police have formed a six-member Special Investigation Team to ensure a thorough probe.

The case has sparked national interest, with calls for accountability growing louder. Hooda asserted that the investigation must remain free from influence and transparency guaranteed, especially given the involvement of high-ranking officials. In his final note, Kumar cited harassment and caste-based discrimination as factors leading to his drastic decision.
