In a developing dispute, Yunus Shaikh, father of AIMIM corporator Sahar Shaikh, has been accused of using a fake caste certificate, sparking legal and social controversy in Thane.
The Thane tehsildar's office has recommended a criminal case against Yunus Shaikh, claiming he wrongfully obtained a caste certificate for his daughter. This follows a complaint by NCP's Siddiqui Farha Shabab Ahmed, who lost to Sahar in the civic polls.
The Shaikh family insists on the legitimacy of their documents, accusing authorities and media of one-sided bias. Legal notices have been filed, and Sahar Shaikh warns against the dangers of adverse social media publicity.
