Call for Immediate Women's Reservation Implementation in Parliament

Mumbai Congress president Varsha Gaikwad on Tuesday called for the immediate implementation of 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies, condemning the delay caused by linking it to delimitation.

Gaikwad highlighted that the Narendra Modi government uses the women's reservation bill passed in 2023 as a facade without execution. If implemented in 2024, it would have empowered 180 women in the Lok Sabha, she argued.

She also pointed out discrimination in fund distribution to local representatives in Mumbai, affecting women corporators. She urged action against influential individuals responsible for crimes against women and highlighted past Congress support for women's representation.
