In a surprising turn of events, elections for the Bar Council of Rajasthan, held at the Rajasthan High Court, were nullified on Wednesday. Reports emerged of irregularities, causing the supervising committee, appointed by the Supreme Court, to cancel the polling.
At the heart of the controversy were claims of voter solicitation and disorderly conduct, with videos surfaced on social media showing scenes of turmoil as lawyers reportedly tore ballot papers. The Additional Returning Officer, Basant Singh Chabba, confirmed the election annulment, promising the announcement of fresh polling dates soon.
This decision to void the voting, applicable only to the Jaipur High Court polling station, has sparked discussions on election transparency. Former judge V S Dave criticized the situation, labeling it as a ''major failure of the process.''
