The central government is gearing up to honor National Panchayati Raj Day on April 24, commemorating 33 years since the pivotal 73rd Constitutional Amendment. This landmark amendment recognized the constitutional status of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) across the nation.
A high-profile national-level function will unfold at Vigyan Bhawan. The event will feature a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which will be shared with elected representatives and officials of PRIs, as well as rural local bodies, through various state and Union Territory channels.
In addition to celebrating the day, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj will unveil the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI)-2.0 report. This includes a trio of publications focused on preserving rural heritage under the 'Meri Panchayat Meri Dharohar' initiative, highlighting regions like Tripura, Tirupati, and Uttarkashi.
