The Supreme Court has mandated the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to delve into the case of a four-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered in Ghaziabad.

A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant expressed dissatisfaction with the initial probe by local authorities and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation under the supervision of senior women officers.

The SIT will also investigate the actions of two private hospitals accused of denying treatment, with a report due in two weeks while current trial proceedings are paused.
