Underscoring the growing momentum in India’s global partnerships, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, today reaffirmed that India–Netherlands relations are steadily evolving into a robust strategic partnership, driven by shared values, technological collaboration, and expanding economic engagement.

Speaking as the Chief Guest at the celebration of the Netherlands’ National Day—King’s Day—hosted at the Dutch Embassy in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, the Minister highlighted the enduring nature of bilateral ties that have remained resilient and progressive despite shifting global geopolitical dynamics.

A Relationship Built on Trust and Complementarity

Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that India and the Netherlands share a deep-rooted and stable relationship, underpinned by mutual trust and ease of collaboration. He noted that the partnership has consistently expanded across critical sectors, reflecting strong complementarities between the two economies.

“India and the Netherlands have built a relationship that not only withstands global changes but continues to grow stronger with time,” the Minister said, pointing to a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth.

Expanding Cooperation Across Key Sectors

The Minister highlighted that bilateral cooperation spans a wide spectrum of sectors, including:

  • Water management, where Dutch expertise aligns with India’s infrastructure needs

  • Agriculture, particularly in sustainable practices and agri-tech innovation

  • High-technology sectors, including cutting-edge industrial and research collaboration

He also drew attention to emerging areas of partnership, such as:

  • Semiconductors, a strategic sector for both nations amid global supply chain shifts

  • Innovation-driven industries, including startups and advanced manufacturing

These collaborations are increasingly seen as critical in addressing global challenges such as climate change, food security, and technological resilience.

Economic Engagement and Industry Linkages

Highlighting the strong economic ties, Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that bilateral investments between India and the Netherlands have grown significantly over the years, making the Netherlands one of the key European investors in India.

In a notable remark, he referenced the global footprint of Dutch multinational Philips, observing that the company today serves more consumers in India than in its home country, illustrating the scale and depth of Indo-Dutch economic integration.

Strengthening People-to-People Connections

The Minister also underscored the importance of people-to-people ties in reinforcing diplomatic relations. He noted that while the Indian diaspora in the Netherlands is relatively small, it remains highly active and plays a meaningful role in strengthening cultural and economic connections between the two nations.

Shared Vision for Global Challenges

Ambassador of the Netherlands to India, Ms. Marisa Gerards, echoed the Minister’s sentiments, stating that the two countries are moving toward a more structured and strategic partnership.

She highlighted key areas of joint focus, including:

  • Climate resilience and sustainability

  • Sustainable agriculture and food systems

  • Resilient global supply chains

The Ambassador emphasized that the India–Netherlands partnership is uniquely positioned to combine innovation, technology, and shared democratic values to address pressing global challenges.

A Forward-Looking Strategic Partnership

Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed strong confidence that bilateral relations will continue to expand across diverse sectors, particularly in high-technology and innovation-driven domains.

As global economies increasingly pivot toward collaboration in critical technologies and sustainable development, the India–Netherlands partnership is emerging as a model of cooperation that blends economic strength with shared global responsibility.

The King’s Day celebration was attended by members of the diplomatic community, senior officials, industry representatives, and distinguished guests, reflecting the growing importance of Indo-Dutch relations on the global stage.

With collaboration expanding from traditional sectors to frontier technologies like semiconductors and innovation ecosystems, India and the Netherlands are poised to play a significant role in shaping future-ready, resilient, and sustainable global partnerships.
