In a heartfelt appeal, Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh has reached out to the grieving family of two children who lost their lives in a bomb explosion in Bishnupur district. The bodies of the victims have languished in a morgue for over two weeks, as their family demands the arrest of those responsible before claiming them.
Amid this atmosphere of unrest, thousands of protesters, unified under the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), staged a demonstration in Imphal. Their demands were clear: justice for the deceased children, rehabilitation for displaced individuals, and enduring peace. The protest was met with resistance, with law enforcement using tear gas to manage crowd control.
The state government, represented by CM Singh and Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, remains deeply engaged in addressing these concerns. They assured that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe. Stepping up their commitment, discussions continue regarding a potential judicial inquiry into recent violent incidents affecting Manipur's peace and stability.
