A retired assistant registrar tragically lost his life in Jhansi after his scooter was struck by a speeding SUV on the Bundelkhand University campus. The vehicle was allegedly driven by a police constable.
The constable, identified as Rajat, has been detained and suspended immediately. Senior Superintendent of Police BBGTS Murthy confirmed that the victim, Maniram Verma, aged around 70, succumbed to his injuries during hospital treatment.
An investigation has been launched into the incident, with a formal case registered at the Nawabad police station. A departmental inquiry has been ordered against the constable as part of the ongoing investigation.
