Colombian Authorities on High Alert as Violence Escalates

Authorities in southwest Colombia are on high alert following a series of explosive attacks and attempted incursions targeting public infrastructure. No injuries were reported in the incidents, which include a shooting at a police station in Jamundi and an attack on a Civil Aviation radar facility in El Tambo. There, officials neutralized three drones carrying explosives.

On Friday, two vehicles laden with explosives were detonated near military installations in Cali and Palmira, causing material damage. These acts of violence have prompted the mobilization of Colombian defense and local authorities, led by Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez, to strategize strong responses to the escalating security threats.

The government identified the dissident Jaime Martínez faction as responsible for the attacks, offering significant financial rewards for information leading to the capture of its leader, "Marlon." This faction, linked to the now-defunct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, remains active in regions crucial for drug trafficking operations.
