A domestic dispute over television viewing escalated into a violent incident in Thane, Maharashtra, police reported on Sunday. Allegedly, Mohammad Tarique Khan attacked his wife, daughter, and granddaughter with a kitchen knife following a birthday celebration on Friday night.

Police stated that tensions had been high in the household due to frequent quarrels over various domestic issues, with the television dispute being the most recent trigger. After the celebration, Khan's argument with his wife resulted in him lashing out violently against her and their intervening daughter and granddaughter.

The victims were immediately taken to a local hospital where they are being treated for their injuries. Police have registered a case under section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita but an arrest is yet to be made, according to the latest updates.
