In a significant breakthrough, police authorities on Saturday apprehended two individuals accused of being part of an organized gang that preyed on pilgrims during their sacred visits to Kedarnath. These arrests have brought to light a web of criminal activities targeting devotees amidst the bustling temple crowds.
The suspects, identified as Rajan Kumar and Sunny Kumar from Ludhiana, Punjab, were caught with stolen items including purses, ATM cards, and various forms of identification. Law enforcement officials have registered a case against them at the Sonprayag police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The gang allegedly used deceptive tactics, with Sunny Kumar exploiting a seemingly fractured arm to deter suspicion. The arrests have prompted further investigation into the gang's operations, as authorities aim to safeguard the thousands of worshippers that visit the revered site.
