In a tragic turn of events during a religious ceremony in Shimla's Kulgaon village, a young woman was fatally shot. The incident unfolded on Sunday as the community celebrated the consecration of a local deity's new temple.
Police have arrested two suspects, identified as Rajat Sohta and Amit alias Rohit Bhapta, both hailing from Rohru. The shooting reportedly occurred as part of the festivity, but it resulted in the untimely death of 26-year-old Ritika, also from Rohru. Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene.
Following the incident, law enforcement quickly arrived, securing crucial evidence and recovering the weapon involved. A case has been filed against the accused under relevant sections of the BNS and Arms Act. In response, the district administration has imposed a ban on carrying weapons at public gatherings, with strict penalties for breaches.
