Two men were killed on Monday, allegedly after a heavy branch of a roadside tree fell on their motorcycle in a village in the Nawabganj area, police said. The incident occurred around 1 pm when Rinku Yadav, 20 and Amit Yadav, 19, were passing through the stretch on a bike and were struck by the falling branch, resulting in their death on the spot, police said. Rinku, a resident of Dhaurhara Ghat in the Tarabganj area, accompanied by his cousin Amit Yadav, was on his way to distribute wedding invitation cards for his elder brother Durgesh Yadav's marriage scheduled on April 28. Eyewitnesses said a thick branch of a peepal tree standing along the roadside suddenly broke and fell onto the road, crushing the motorcycle and the two men. Family sources said Rinku was the youngest among three brothers, while Amit was the only son of his parents. Police teams from Nawabganj and Wazirganj police stations reached the spot, removed the fallen branch, recovered the bodies, and restored the traffic, they said. Nawabganj Station House Officer Abhay Singh said the bodies have been sent for a post-mortem.
