Kangra police in Himachal Pradesh arrested four people and seized 4.04 kilograms of charas in a coordinated operation, officials said on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off during routine patrol, a police team intercepted an Alto K-10 vehicle and recovered the contraband in the jurisdiction of the Panchrukhi police station on Monday, Superintendent of Police Ashok Ratan said. Two individuals, Gopal (24) from Khunn village and Surendra Kumar (37) from Dagut village in the Kullu district, were arrested and booked under sections 20 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Subsequent investigation and technical analysis revealed the suspect's links to a larger trafficking network. The duo was allegedly transporting the consignment to key operators Kamaljeet Singh alias 'Kaku' (39) and Sangam Sharma alias 'Golu' (26), both residents of Palampur in the Kangra district. A covert police team conducted multiple raids and apprehended the two alleged main traffickers within 18 hours on Tuesday, the police said. Police officials said further investigation was underway to trace the broader network.
