A tribal man's shocking move to present his sister's skeleton at a bank in Keonjhar district has prompted an inquiry by the Odisha government. The incident, captured in a viral video, led to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordering a thorough investigation.
Revenue Divisional Commissioner Sangram Keshari Mohapatra, alongside Keonjhar District Collector Vishal Singh, personally visited the Maliposi branch of Odisha Grameen Bank to examine the situation. They checked CCTV footage and interviewed bank officials to uncover the circumstances that led to this extreme measure.
Meanwhile, political reactions have been swift. A Congress delegation, along with a BJD fact-finding team, visited Jeetu Munda, who carried his sister's remains. The Odisha government has since extended Rs 30,000 in assistance to Munda, allowing him to withdraw his late sister's funds as well.
