In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police dismantled a criminal network involved in the trafficking of stolen mobile phones to Nepal, capturing two primary suspects and recovering 40 stolen devices, according to an official announcement on Thursday.
The accused individuals, identified as Md Shahnawaj, also known as Shaan, from Delhi's Nand Nagari, and Md Rizwan, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, were detained with irrefutable evidence showing their involvement in trafficking the stolen goods.
Police revealed that Rizwan functioned as the receiver for the Nepal arm of the operation and was arrested just minutes before attempting to flee with a stash of phones. The investigation uncovered thousands of telephones trafficked to Nepal, where they were sold for substantial profit.
