Corruption Crackdown: Justice Served in Thrissur Court
A former labour department official, K Krishnakumar, is sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 2 lakh for accepting a bribe in a case pursued by the Thrissur Vigilance Court. The incident involved a footwear shop owner in Palakkad, dating back to 2012.

In a significant verdict handed down by the Thrissur Vigilance Court, former Assistant Labour Officer K Krishnakumar has been sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment. Accused in a 2012 corruption case, Krishnakumar was found guilty of accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a shop owner in Palakkad.
The prosecution, led by Public Prosecutor V K Shylajan, successfully demonstrated that Krishnakumar, during an inspection in January 2012, allegedly offered to settle wage arrears discrepancies for a bribe. This resulted in the shop owner being issued a notice for not paying minimum wages.
Krishnakumar was caught red-handed accepting the bribe by the Palakkad VACB unit. The investigation was spearheaded by former Deputy SPs Satheesan K and Sukumaran, alongside former Inspector Firoz M Sheikh. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on Krishnakumar.
